Sherwood Forest Hospitals was the seventh best performing Trust for the four-hour standard in England, Chief Operating Officer Roz Howie has reported.

Speaking at the Trust’s public board meeting she praised staff across all three hospital sites (King’s Mill, Newark and Mansfield Community Hospitals) for their dedication and commitment during a period of growing winter pressures.

From October to December last year 95.1% of patients attending the Emergency Department at King’s Mill Hospital were either treated and discharged or admitted to a ward for further treatment within four hours. The national target is 95%.

Thanking staff, she said: “We are really proud that we are currently one of the top performing Trust’s in England for the four-hour standard, seventh out of 134.

“Our Emergency Department continues to be busy during the winter months and admissions through the department into the hospital remain high, however, by working as a whole team throughout our hospitals – and with NHS community partners and local authority social care teams – we have been able to provide the right treatment in the right place for patients needs and conditions.

“This is due to the hard work and dedication of teams throughout the Trust who work hard every day to provide outstanding patient care.”
