The Dementia Care Appeal for Newark Hospital has had another boost thanks to a donation of £5000 from the Outpatients Refreshment Bar volunteers.

The appeal has been set up to raise £105,000 to help make Newark Hospital’s Sconce Ward more dementia friendly.

A number of other events have also raised money for the appeal, including; the Summer Ball, raising £843, the League of Friends held a tombola raising £145 and attending stalls at two village fetes raising £350.

This donation has enabled us to move the appeal thermometer up to £22,500.

Volunteer, Joyce Whitworth said: “It is a real pleasure for us to make this donation to the appeal. Thank you to staff, visitors and patients for their ongoing support of our refreshment bar.”

Head of Corporate Affairs and Company Secretary, Shirley Higginbotham said: “We would like to thank the community for their generous donations to the appeal. We are always so grateful for the donations that we receive, it really does make a difference.”
