Last chance to nominate your Sherwood Forest Hospitals hero

Staff Excellence Banner MC

September 26, 2017

Patients of Sherwood Forest Hospitals and the public have just days left to nominate a deserving member of staff or team who goes the extra mile for a special award, as nominations close on Friday (29 September).

The People’s Award category in the Trust’s annual Staff Excellence Awards celebrates those members of staff who go above and beyond to deliver outstanding care or service, from porters and cleaners, nurses and doctors, through to administration staff and managers.

Anyone can nominate in The People’s Award category and nominations can be made for whole departments, ward teams, an individual member of staff or support team members who work at King’s Mill Hospital, Newark Hospital or Mansfield Community Hospital.

Chief Executive, Richard Mitchell, said: “Opening up a special award to nominations from the public is a fantastic way for patients and families to show their appreciation for our dedicated staff, who very often go above and beyond to deliver outstanding care and make a visit to hospital a little bit easier.

“We are very proud of the hard work and commitment that is shown by all of our staff, whatever their role, and the awards are a great opportunity to recognise this and to thank staff for the work that they do.”

Nominations can be made via an online form on the Sherwood Forest Hospitals website or posted to Communications Team, Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Trust HQ, King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, NG17 4JL. Please provide your name, telephone number, your nomination and reason for nominating in no more than 200 words.

Registered Nurse, Susan Lloyd, who won last year’s The People’s Award, thinks it’s important that patients who have had a good experience at one of the hospitals nominates the staff involved. She said: “I felt very honoured to be nominated by our patients to win an award – it was an overwhelming achievement. Being recognised for the care I had delivered filled me with a great deal of pride and made me realise that you do make a difference to people’s experience of healthcare.

“Being recognised by a patient for my work has not only made me feel privileged, but the positive feeling has also transferred to the team, making us all feel valued and recognised.”

Nominations close on Friday 29 September 2017 at 5pm and the winner, along with the winners in 10 other categories nominated for by staff, will be revealed at a prestigious ceremony on the evening of Friday 10 November 2017.
