Dementia Care Appeal
Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity and The Friends of Newark Hospital have launced a £105,000 fundraising appeal to enhance the patient environment on Sconce Ward. The aim is to improve the experience of patients living with dementia.
£45,000 raised towards £105,000 target for Dementia Appeal at Newark Hospital
The Newark Hospital Dementia Appeal has reached the milestone of £45,000 with recent donations from Waitrose, Charles Street Methodist Church, Derry Building Services and Mary Taylor Coffee Lounge volunteers.
Donations can be made to the appeal via www.justgiving.com/sherwoodforest/ or by cheque made payable to Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity and send to and send to Sherwood Forest Hospitals, Community Involvement Department, Newark Hospital, Boundary Road, Newark, NG24 4DE. Alternatively you can visit the Community Involvement Department at the main entrance of Newark Hospital.
Christmas raffle raises £1405
The Friends of Newark Hospital Christmas raffle was drawn by the Town Mayor, Rita Crowe with the lucky winner taking home a luxury hamper. The raffle has raised a fantastic £1405 for our dementia appeal.
Dress Down Day raises money for Dementia Appeal
A fantastic £266.51 was donated by Derry Building Services who held a staff dress down day to raise funds for the Newark Hospital Dementia Care Appeal. Coffee Lounge Donation boosts Appeal
A fantastic £5,000 has been donated to the dementia appeal from profits raised in our Mary Taylor Coffee Lounge. Volunteer May Thompson is pictured with staff from Sconce Ward.
£808.68 raised at Newark Hospital Christmas Fayre
The Friends of Newark Hospital and the fundraising volunteers held stalls including cakes, crafts, gifts and a tombola on 6th December at Newark Hospital. There was also a medley of Christmas songs performed by the Fernwood staff choir. The total of £808.68 was raised for the Dementia Appeal.
Waitrose 'Community Matters' donation boosts Appeal
A fantastic £463 was donated by Waitrose Community Matters Green Token Scheme who support local charities.
£370 donation from Sherwood Forest Hospitals Staff Excellence Awards
A raffle held at the Staff Excellence Awards in November resulted in £370 being donated to the Dementia Care Appeal. The raffle organised by the Community Involvement Department, had prizes including Hampers, Vouchers and chocolates.
Race Night a Winning Success
A fantastic £1310 for the Dementia Care Appeal was raised at a race night arranged by Sconce Ward Deputy Sister, Kerry Hazard. The event was held at The Malt Shovel Pub in Newark and money was raised from ticket and betting sales and a raffle.

£385 raised by Quiz
John Kitchen devised a cryptic 'Tourist Attractions Quiz'. Copies of the quiz were sold for £1. Over 40 completed entries were submitted and a draw from those correct was made for the winner. John is pictured receiving a certificate of appreciation from Sam Haynes of Sconce Ward where the money raised will be used.
£100 donated from Grand Raffle Winner
Peggy Harwood was the lucky winner of the Grand Raffle Draw. She kindly donated £100 of her winnings back to the Appeal. She is pictured with Senior Radiographer Janet Meal
Medical Quiz raises £192
Former Mayor Dean Hyde hosted a fun medical themed quiz at Fernwood Village Hall on Saturday 28 October. The event was attended by teams of staff, volunteers and members of the local community and was won by the Eastwood Centre team. A total of £192 was raised for the appeal.
It all adds up!!
The Friends of Newark Hospital have collection tins and boxes located around the hospital. The amount raised from these has reached a fantastic £1,121.
Collingham Women's Fellowship give donation to Dementia Appeal
The Collingham Women’s Fellowship donated £50 to the Dementia Appeal. They wanted to contribute as they recognise the valuable contribution the League of Friends achieves for Newark Hospital.The Collingham Women’s Fellowship donated £50 to the Dementia Appeal. Cake sale raises £131
Members of the National Citizen’s Service raised money from a bake sale for the Dementia Care Appeal at Newark Hospital on the 4th August. They made and sold cakes in Newark Market Square and raised £131 . Ally Colston, Lucy Wilson and Leigh Pettifor presented the cheque to Leoni Armstrong and Lindsey Schaffarczyk from Sconce Ward.
Bike ride from King's Mill Hospital to Newark Hospital raises £400
Jean Manning was sponsored to cycle from King's Mill Hospital to Newark Hospital to raise funds for the Dementia Appeal. She completed the journey in a fantastic time of 3 hours 10 minutes and raised £400.

Hospital Volunteers raise £5,000
The Dementia Care Appeal for Newark Hospital has had another boost thanks to a donation of £5000 from the Outpatients Refreshment Bar volunteers. Volunteer at the refreshment bar, Joyce Whitworth said: “It is a real pleasure for us to make this donation to the appeal. Thank you to staff, visitors and patients for their ongoing support of our refreshment bar.” Joyce and volunteer Ian Lockwood are seen presenting the cheque to the Chief Executive Richard Mitchell.
The Friends of Newark Hospital attend Balderton Village Fete
The Friends of Newark Hospital attended Balderton Village Fete on 16th July to raise funds for the Dementia Appeal. A Gift stall, raffle and 'guess the sweets in the jar' raised £180. Jane Combes, Committee Member, Friends of Newark Hospital and Newark Hospital Volunteer together with Julia Bryan and Pearl Fuller, Newark Hospital Volunteers were there on the day.
St Peter's Church, Farndon donate £152
Members of St Peter's Church in Farndon visited Sconce Ward to present a cheque for £152 for the Dementia Appeal.

Red Roofs Nursing Home raise £130
Red Roofs Nursing Home held an Open Day and Coffee Morning and raised £130 from a raffle and various stalls. Staff wore fancy dress and entertained the residents with activities and music.

A cake stall was held by retired staff member Pat Ward at Newark Hospital on 15 June and raised £142. Thank you to Pat and the patients, visitors and staff who supported this event.
Diamond Wedding celebrations raises £100 for the Dementia Care Appeal
Richard and Brenda Fincham recently celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary. In lieu of presents they asked guests to give donations for the Dementia Care Appeal. Donation from Councillor Dean Hyde

Fundraising volunteers donate £1,000 for the Dementia Care Appeal
Our volunteer fundraisers have been very busy with regular fundraising stalls such as giftware, books and plants. They have donated a fantastic £1,000 to the Dementia Care Appeal.
