     Newark Hospital Dementia Care Appeal donations reach £30,000 as Grand Raffle raises £2,654.

The Friends of Newark Hospital Grand Raffle for the Dementia Appeal raised an amazing amount of £2,654.  Tallents Solicitors of Newark sponsored the raffle and donated the £250 first prize. Alistair Millar of Tallents Solicitors made the draw and is pictured with the League of Friends Chair, June Howsam.  A huge thank you to all who bought tickets,donated prizes or sold tickets.

Donations can be made to the appeal via or  by cheque made payable to Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity and send to and send to Sherwood Forest Hospitals, Community Involvement Department, Newark Hospital, Boundary Road, Newark, NG24 4DE. Alternatively you can visit the Community Involvement Department at the main entrance of Newark Hospital.

It all adds up!!

The Friends of Newark Hospital have collection tins and boxes located around the hospital.  The amount raised from these has reached a fantastic £1,121.

Collingham Women's Fellowship give donation to Dementia Appeal

The Collingham Women’s Fellowship donated £50 to the Dementia Appeal.  They wanted to contribute as they recognise the valuable contribution the League of Friends achieves for Newark Hospital.The Collingham Women’s Fellowship donated £50 to the Dementia Appeal. Cake sale raises £131

Members of the National Citizen’s Service raised money from a bake sale for the Dementia Care Appeal at Newark Hospital on the 4th August.  They made and sold cakes in Newark Market Square and raised £131 .  Ally Colston, Lucy Wilson and Leigh Pettifor presented the cheque to Leoni Armstrong and Lindsey Schaffarczyk from Sconce Ward.

Bike ride from King's Mill Hospital to Newark Hospital raises £400

Jean Manning was sponsored to cycle from King's Mill Hospital to Newark Hospital to raise funds for the Dementia Appeal.  She completed the journey in a fantastic time of 3 hours 10 minutes and raised £400.

Hospital Volunteers raise £5,000 

The Dementia Care Appeal for Newark Hospital has had another boost thanks to a donation of £5000 from the Outpatients Refreshment Bar volunteers. Volunteer at the refreshment bar, Joyce Whitworth said: “It is a real pleasure for us to make this donation to the appeal. Thank you to staff, visitors and patients for their ongoing support of our refreshment bar.” Joyce and volunteer Ian Lockwood are seen presenting the cheque to the Chief Executive Richard Mitchell.

The Friends of Newark Hospital attend Balderton Village Fete 

The Friends of Newark Hospital attended Balderton Village Fete on 16th July to raise funds for the Dementia Appeal.  A Gift stall, raffle and 'guess the sweets in the jar' raised £180.  Jane Combes, Committee Member, Friends of Newark Hospital and Newark Hospital Volunteer together with Julia Bryan and Pearl Fuller, Newark Hospital Volunteers were there on the day.

St Peter's Church, Farndon donate £152

Members of St Peter's Church in Farndon visited Sconce Ward to present a cheque for £152 for the Dementia Appeal.

Red Roofs Nursing Home raise £130

Red Roofs Nursing Home held an Open Day and Coffee Morning and raised £130 from a raffle and various stalls.  Staff wore fancy dress and entertained the residents with activities and music.

Visitors and staff enjoy home-made cakes at Newark Hospital - £142 raised

A cake stall was held by retired staff member Pat Ward at Newark Hospital on 15 June and raised £142.  Thank you to Pat and the patients, visitors and staff who supported this event.

Diamond Wedding celebrations raises £100 for the Dementia Care Appeal

Richard and Brenda Fincham recently celebrated their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.  In lieu of presents they asked guests to give donations for the Dementia Care Appeal.  They are seen with June Howsam, League of Hospital Friends Chair and Nadia Whitworth League of Friends Secretary presenting a cheque for £100.

Donation from Councillor Dean Hyde

Former Town Mayor Councillor Dean Hyde donated £637 from remaining funds in his Charity Appeal Account to the Newark Hospital Dementia Care Appeal.  He is pictured with his wife Louise (right) presenting the cheque to Tracey Brassington, Community Involvement Manager.

Fundraising volunteers donate £1,000 for the Dementia Care Appeal

Our volunteer fundraisers have been very busy with regular fundraising stalls such as giftware, books and plants.  They have donated a fantastic £1,000 to the Dementia Care Appeal.  Pictured below are June Howsam, League of Hospital Friends Chair and Bridget Cobb, Vice Chair & Treasurer.  The fundraising stalls have been supported by members of the Dementia Care Support Group.
