The Patient Information Advisory Forum (PIAF)

The Patient Information Advisory Forum (PIAF) supports the Trust in its aim of raising and maintaining the standard of written information for patients, their carers and all service users.  It is made up of members of the public and meetings are chaired by one of the members, supported by the Communications Manager.  The forum provides an assessment of patient information leaflets and associated patient communication channels from a patient’s perspective, assessing the suitability of information to its target audience.  Members offer constructive and objective advice on the quality of the non-clinical content, ensuring that it is patient-centred, concise, relevant, understandable and complete.

The group meets on a monthly basis, usually at King’s Mill Hospital, and new members are recruited from the Trust’s membership base as and when required.
