Meet the Pharmacy Training Team

Sandy Harris

Sandy is our lead pharmacist in the education and training team and joined the trust in 2008. She oversees the training provided by the team and is the main point of contact for the GPhC.

Sandy has worked in several larger organisations prior to moving to SFHT. Previous posts held include; Clinical Services Manager at Nottingham City Hospital, Specialist Neurology Pharmacist at Leicester Royal Infirmary and Resident Pharmacist at Leeds General Infirmary. She has also acted as a teacher practitioner at both Nottingham University, and De Monfort University.

When not at work she enjoys travel, the outdoors and exploring the extensive network of cycle paths in the East Midlands on her bike.

Bryony Stevens

Bryony joined the training team in 2011 and currently facilitates the pre-registration training year. Bryony also acts as a tutor

Bryony has most of her experience at SFHT. Her pharmacy career began in community pharmacy as a teenager, but undertook her pre-reg training at SHFT. She completed her diploma in 2011 and began an MSc in October 2015.

When not at work, Bryony is often enjoying the outdoors. Her favourite band is the manic Street Preachers, but enjoys discovering new music.

We encourage our staff members to become pre-registration pharmacist tutors and try to keep the same tutors for consecutive years so that you, as trainees, benefit from their experience. Once we have met you we will try to match you with a tutor that meets your learning style so that you are supported to get the most out of your year.

Our tutors meet the requirements laid out by the GPhC. You will receive meetings with your tutor every two weeks in addition to your 13, 26 and 39 week appraisals.

Where to meet us

We attend university pharmacy recruitment fairs and can meet one of us there, and we try to bring a current pre-registration pharmacist with us to answer your questions.

We also have opportunities for summer vacation experiences. These are normally one week in duration and can be applied for by emailing the team between December and February. NB: These are for third year students only.

We hold open afternoons for you to visit the department , normally in April, May or June.  Full details of these are listed at www.dmu.ac.uk/preregpharmtraining

To apply for a pre-registration pharmacist position you need to apply through the centralised Oriel system
