Staff Governors
Governors work with the Board of Directors and represent the interests of our members in the planning of services. The Council of Governors are elected by our public and staff members or appointed to represent community partners, such as the local councils and commissioners.
If you are a member of staff and you wish to raise an issue or have any ideas or suggestions, please contact your governor on the details below.

Samantha Musson - Staff Governor
Sam is Head of Therapy Services at SFH and is a qualified Physiotherapist of 18 years, working at Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust for over 15 of those.
She has a real passion for supporting staff, promoting an open culture in which all staff have a voice and she is keen to bring this passion to the role of governor. Sam is an advocate for developing services and ensuring quality and outstanding care for patients and service users.
A proud mum to two teenage boys, this is a role that requires her to double up as a taxi driver in her spare time. She also has two gorgeous ragdoll cats that are definitely in charge!

Mitchel Speed - Staff Governor
Mitchel is a Project Support Officer in the Improvement Faculty and has worked across both clinical and non-clinical areas of the Trust during his 12 years at Sherwood Forest Hospitals Foundation Trust.
He also champions diversity and inclusion as the LGBTQ+ Staff Network Chair, reflecting his commitment to both organisational excellence and promoting an inclusive workplace. Mitchel is dedicated to empowering staff by ensuring they have opportunities for development and a broad understanding of the organisation, actively advocating for their voices to be heard in his role as Staff Governor.
When not working, Mitchel enjoys holidays abroad and, in the UK, he also likes spending time with friends and family.

Justin Wyatt - Staff Governor
Justin is a nurse of 28 years, with a varied background in both the NHS and private sectors. He has a passion for high quality and safe patient care and supporting and developing our staff and joined the Trust in 2015 when the Trust's CQC rating went from special measures to good overall, and outstanding for King's Mill Hospital. He wants to play his part in his clinical role and as a staff governor to continue the journey to becoming an outstanding trust overall.
During his time at Sherwood Forest Hospitals, Justin has worked at all three hospital sites, and wants to ensure equitable service at all three sites for our patients, as well as support and development for our staff.
Justin is married with three wonderful children and a very understanding wife. He is also a proud grandfather.
