On Thursday 29 May, long-term fundraisers Angela McCreadie and Wendy Broughton donated £6,500 to the Sherwood Forest Hospitals charity for their ‘Breast and Balls’ initiative.

Angela and Wendy, who won Community Hero Award at the Sherwood Forest Hospitals Excellence Awards last year, have raised over £120,000 in total for the Trust’s Breast and Urology services since they started fundraising in 2010.

The pair delivered the donation to King’s Mill Hospital and met with Community Involvement and Breast and Urology colleagues to discuss ideas on how the funds can be used to improve each service.

Angela told us “It was lovely to meet the team, both Wendy and I appreciate that the money is spent in worthy areas. We both fundraise to support our local hospital which in turn helps the community.”

The team had lots of exciting ideas on how the money could be used to benefit patients, one idea was for a staff member to complete a course that allows them to perform medical tattooing on patients.

Consultant Breast Surgeon, Elle Gutteridge said “we are incredibly grateful for Angela and Wendy’s efforts. We already have lots of good ideas to look at that will benefit both services.”

Ashley Bingley, Operations Manager for Urology and Ophthalmology explained: "Having these funds available through the Trust charity will allow us to make some real impactful changes to both Breast and Urology services. We are so grateful to have Angela and Wendy fundraising and allowing us to continue improving our patient journey."

Thank you Angela and Wendy for your continued support through the amazing fundraising you do for the Sherwood Forest Hospitals Charity.
