Shortlist announced for 2025 Staff Excellence Awards

Thursday, 04 September 2025
Over the past few weeks, judging panels at Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust have carefully reviewed more than 300 incredible nominations for our annual Staff Excellence Awards.
Each nomination is a reminder of the dedication, compassion, and outstanding work our colleagues bring to their roles every day.
The People’s Award is voted for by members of the public, and this year includes an inspirational set of colleagues who deserve to be honoured for their hard work and professionalism.
The family of former hospital porter Stephen, who sadly passed away this year have nominated the Podiatry Team for a People’s Award. The team have been commended for their unwavering support in helping to get Stephen back on his feet and back to work after a foot ulcer, with his family praising the team for their dedication, compassion, and the lasting impact they made on Stephen’s life.
Medical Education Nurse Claire Etches has been nominated by a previous student for enriching the lives of her students with warmth and enthusiasm, providing genuine empathy and care, and her outstanding mentorship and commitment to student development.
Finally, colleagues on the Day Case Unit have been described as truly special and beyond outstanding. They have been nominated for delivering care that exceeds professionalism and creating a safe, warm environment which aids recovery. One wonderful example is when the team went above and beyond on New Year’s Eve to make sure a couple wouldn’t be apart overnight for the first time in 52 years.
Recently, members of our Executive Team have had the pleasure of surprising some of our shortlisted colleagues in person with the exciting news that they’ve made this year’s shortlist!
