£10,000 refurbishment programme to enhance Sherwood Forest Hospitals' maternity facilities

A £10,000 refurbishment programme to enhance maternity services has commenced at King’s Mill Hospital.
The project, generously funded by the Mansfield and Sutton League of Friends, will provide home comforts, including a double bed and soft furnishings, for the bereavement suite in the hospital’s maternity department.
The improvements will enhance services for parents and families, providing a home from home, quiet and comforting environment to make any distressing time a little gentler.
Alison Whitham, Head of Midwifery at Sherwood Forest Hospitals, said: “Bereavement care is extremely important to us and is offered in accordance with the values of the parents who have experienced a late pregnancy or perinatal loss.
“Improvements to the bereavement suite will enable staff to provide their dedicated assistance and support in more comfortable and private surroundings.
“We would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the League of Friends for their hard work and support in improving facilities for parents and their families.”
The money was raised from fundraising events, donations from members of the public and profits of three community charity shops.
Barbara Joule, Chair of the League of Friends, said: “Our fundraising team and shop volunteers work tirelessly to raise funds to support our local hospitals and it is thanks to them and the support of the local community that we are able to fund this worthwhile project.”
Improvements are set for completion in October.
