Cladding and fire safety checks

KMHJuly 3, 2017

Patients, visitors and staff at Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust can be assured that buildings at King’s Mill Hospital are safe and that precautionary tests that are being carried out on material used on some NHS buildings following the Grenfell Tower fire are not required.
The cladding on our buildings is made of steel and not the aluminium composite material that has caused concern elsewhere.

All buildings continue to meet the current legislative requirements including European Classification of A1. A full fire risk assessment has been carried out within the past 12 months that found that the structure has no inherent failures.

As part of our standard checks that are planned for the building on a regular basis, Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service will be visiting King’s Mill next week (Monday – Friday) to carry out standard fire checks and audits.
