Parkinson's
Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological condition in which parts of the brain become increasingly damaged over time.
If you're concerned you may be experiencing symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, speak to your GP. They will discuss your symptoms with you and may refer you to a specialist for further assessment and tests.
Parkinson’s is one of the most common neurodegenerative conditions, and receiving a diagnosis can be life-changing.
To support patients recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Sherwood Forest Hospitals now offers a series of dedicated workshops. These sessions are designed to help patients better understand their condition and learn how to manage it effectively.
The workshops were introduced by Dr Nishantha Silva, Consultant Physician, Geriatrician, and Service Lead for Parkinson’s Disease.
Delivered by our multidisciplinary team, the sessions provide an overview of the Parkinson’s service, guidance on managing the condition, and information about the latest, cutting-edge treatments available locally.
