Visiting update

From 1 January 2022, we have taken the difficult decision to suspend adult in-patient visiting in order to help protect our vulnerable patients. Please visit here for more information.

Patient appointments

As we continue to see a rise in our urgent care admissions, a surge in admissions of Covid positive patients, and workforce shortages created by Covid isolation, some appointments for planned care may need to be delayed.

We will continue to prioritise urgent and emergency care and cancer treatments and we will do everything we can to avoid delaying care. If we need to take the difficult decision to delay appointments, we will contact affected patients directly to let them know.

If you do not hear from us, please attend as requested in your appointment letter.

Internal Nurse Transfer Scheme

The Internal Transfer Scheme is for all Band 5 staff nurses employed by Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is a fast-tracked process to support nurses to move sideways into a different department or specialty.

The aim of the scheme is to retain our valued Band 5 nurses by simplifying the recruitment process for those wishing to explore internal opportunities that are available at the same grade, but in a different area.

To apply, you must:

  • Be a registered Band 5 nurse employed by SFHFT
  • Have worked in your current post for a minimum of 6 months
  • Have completed your preceptorship if newly qualified
  • Have had an appraisal in the last 12 months
  • Have agreement, approval and support from your current Line Manager/Team Leader.

Where could I move to?

Many of our departments and managers are looking for Band 5 nurses to transfer into their services. Please note, a move can only be facilitated if a vacancy in that area or department becomes available during the dates of this pilot project. Click here to view our vacancies.

When can I apply?

The scheme is open now. Click here to download the application form.

How can I apply?

It is simple:

Step 1- Complete the Internal Transfer Request Form (here) in full and email it to sfh-tr.internaltransferscheme@nhs.net Please include your current line manager when emailing the form.

Step 2: If you have met the eligibility criteria, and there is a vacancy in the department or ward that you would like to move to, then a transfer meeting will be arranged with the prospective Team Leader for that area. Job requirements and key objectives will be discussed at the meeting.

Step 3: If you are a suitable candidate then the prospective manager will inform Human Resources. Human Resources will check that you meet the eligibility criteria and identify if any further checks need completing. If all checks are satisfactory your current Line Manager and new Line Manager will need to agree a transfer date. Once all the above is completed, you will receive a letter confirming your move and the date you will be transferred.
