NHS National Staff Survey
Every year, colleagues across Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust share their views through the NHS Staff Survey. Their feedback helps us understand what we’re doing well and where we need to improve.
This year, we heard from 3,600 colleagues, and their voices are helping us shape the actions we will take to make Sherwood an even better place to work and deliver care.
Here are just some of the areas we’re most proud of:
- Improving appraisals and development
More colleagues are now receiving the development support they deserve. Over the past year, 90.1% of colleagues reported having an appraisal, and our results are 2% above the national average when it comes to helping colleagues agree clear objectives for their work. - A workplace colleagues are proud of
Sherwood continues to be a place where people feel proud to work. 59.3% of colleagues would recommend the Trust as a place to work, which is higher than the national average of 57.8%. - Patient care remains our top priority
70.7% of colleagues agreed that caring for patients and service users is the organisation’s top priority. - Managers supporting colleague wellbeing
Managers across the Trust are taking a more proactive approach to supporting wellbeing. 71.5% of colleagues said their manager takes a positive interest in their health and wellbeing.
We are incredibly grateful to all colleagues who shared their views in this year’s survey. Their feedback provides valuable insight and helps us understand where we’re doing well and where we need to improve. Thanks to their voices, we can continue making Sherwood a better place for both our colleagues and our patients.
There are many great things happening across our hospitals that we are proud of. However, it’s equally important that we recognise where we can do better.
Over the coming year, we are committed to making further improvements in four key areas:
- Value: We will ensure all colleagues feel valued and recognised for the important work they do.
- Support: We will strengthen support for colleague wellbeing, tackle burnout, and continue addressing staff experiences of violence and aggression.
- Include: We will create a more inclusive environment and work together to reduce the daily pressures faced by our teams.
- Improve: We will improve the experience of work through digital and estate developments, ensuring colleagues have the tools and environment they need to do their jobs effectively.
Work is already underway to develop strong plans that will help us deliver real improvements in these areas.
Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust remains dedicated to creating a positive workplace culture where colleagues feel valued, supported, and empowered to provide the best possible care.
We will continue listening to our colleagues and taking meaningful steps to improve life here at Sherwood.
