Work experience
Work experience is important for getting into any career. Having had experience of a real life working environment can make you stand out from the crowd on applications for courses, training and jobs.
Work experience helps people to better understand the working environment and make the transition from education into working life by giving you:
- First-hand experience of the workplace and insight into our roles and specialities.
- A chance to develop transferable skills, which you can take forward into a new environment.
- Insight into how your skills and abilities translate to the workplace.
- Opportunity to find out more about yourself and what inspires you.
- Increased confidence and understanding about the work environment.
- Understanding of potential employability skills you have or need.
- Experience which can be added to your university, apprenticeship or job applications demonstrating what you have learned and skills gained.
- Increased understanding of working in an NHS organisation
- Work experience can be useful for anyone and at any stage of your career.
Please note that the minimum age for work experience is currently 14 years, and in some clinical areas it is 18 years.
Due to the demand, placements are currently restricted to Nottinghamshire residents or those attending education in Nottinghamshire.
Applicants must follow the specific dress code, Infection Prevention and Control, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements of the placement.
