Newark and Sherwood Public Governors

  • Mr Martin Stott - Public Governor - Newark and Sherwood

    Before retiring Martin worked in a senior capacity in Hospital, in Primary Care and Mental Health. Martin and his immediate family have always received excellent NHS care but feels that improvements can always be made.  Having been a Sherwood Forest Governor for several years he is delighted with the improved services and the ongoing efforts of the staff and management to become outstanding.

  • Mrs Ann Mackie - Public Governor - Newark and Sherwood

    Ann has worked as a clinician in the NHS all her working life and is very aware of the many good things in the NHS; it came top in an in-depth comparison of 11 healthcare systems around the world. Ann feels as a Public Governor for Newark and Sherwood she has the privilege of representing the public/patients to act as a catalyst to bring concerns to the appropriate people and to help clarify worries about the NHS. Ann feels the NHS are going through challenging but exciting times with the implementation of the STP (Sustainability and Transformation Plan) and has acted as a catalyst in setting up a PPG (Patient Participation Group) in the village of Collingham and is looking forward to making differences in other areas.

  • Mr Ian Holden - Public Governor - Newark and Sherwood

    As a long term Cancer survivor Ian he has extensive experience of the highs and lows of NHS delivery. As a manager, University Lecturer and Civil Servant he has been heavily involved in the challenges of public-sector change-management. Despite the criticism constantly heard in the press Ian believes the vast majority of NHS staff work hard and deliver a world-class service. However, if it is to survive, our whole health and care system must change and Ian believes that it is vital that the public fully understand the reasons for those changes and how they will affect the way services are delivered.
