With the Tour of Britain returning to Nottinghamshire on Saturday 8 September, and finishing in Mansfield, patients, visitors and staff are being advised to allow extra time for their journey to King’s Mill Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital.
Attracting large crowds, Britain’s biggest cycle race will be passing close to both sites in the afternoon before finishing in Chesterfield Road South at around 4pm.
Roads will be closed around the town with traffic congestion likely.
- Chesterfield Road South will be closed all day from 5am to 8pm with diversions in place
- The following roads will be closed for approximately one hour between 3.00 and 4.00pm; Derby Road, Nottingham Road, Atkin Lane, High Oakham Hill, Sheepbridge Lane, Sutton Road junction at Sir John Cockle, Skegby Lane, Beck Lane, Abbott Road, Rosemary Street.
The entire route will work on a rolling road block, which means that roads will be closed in sections to accommodate the cyclists and then they will be reopened again. At any one point in time drivers need to anticipate a delay of around 30 minutes to allow for the race to pass by.
Emergency vehicles will have access at all times despite the road closures.
