Proud2bOps and Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have been shortlisted for a national award recognising the power of joint working across the NHS. The “HSJ Partnership Award”, recognises an outstanding contribution to healthcare, in what has been an exceptional and challenging period across the sector.

Proud2bOps is a national network of operational managers and leaders working within front line health and care organisations: community, acute, primary, independent, voluntary and ambulance sectors. With members from a variety of industries, this supportive network offers operational professionals the opportunity to come together and share best practice whilst developing themselves as leaders. Hosted by Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust and led by its Director of Culture and Improvement, Emma Challans, the award nomination recognises the power of organisations working together to solve some of the most difficult issues across the NHS.

Despite the demanding circumstances of the past 18 months, more than 1000 entries were received for this year’s HSJ Awards, with 205 organisations, projects and individuals making it to the final shortlist.

The judging panel was made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community, including Sir Bruce Keogh (Chair, Birmingham Women’s and Children’s FT) and Marie Gabriel CBE (Chair, NHS Race and Health Observatory).

Emma Challans, Chair of Proud2bOps and Director of Culture and Improvement at Sherwood Forest Hospitals said, “We are so thrilled to be a HSJ Awards Finalist in the category of Partnership of The Year.  This recognition really does reflect the collaborative efforts and dedication of our operational colleagues and partners who have worked so tirelessly to successfully deliver Proud2bOps. Knowing that there was such stiff competition this year truly makes this announcement feel like a wonderful achievement for everyone involved and the nomination has been a tremendous boost to all Proud2bOps members.

“We can see from the other shortlisted applicants that the standard of entries was high this year and that competition has been tough. This reflects that over the past 18 months, visionary people from across the NHS, care organisations, social care and the public sector have worked together to innovate and to solve some of the hardest problems affecting our communities. I am continually inspired by the bold and innovative partnership working I see across the NHS and I am proud that we are one of the initiatives to have been recognised in this way, thank you.”

HSJ editor Alistair McLellan, added: “On behalf of all my colleagues, I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Proud2bOps and Sherwood Forest Hospitals on being nominated in the HSJ Partnership Awards category, in this year’s HSJ Awards. The applications we receive always present our panel of judges with a very difficult task as the standard is unfailingly high and the breadth of innovation and passion for patient care is always so inspiring.

“This year, we really have been overwhelmed with the level of entries, particularly when set against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic and the huge challenges faced by our health and social care workforce.

“We are therefore looking forward to welcoming all our finalists to the live ceremony in November and joining us in celebrating their incredible achievements and commitment to excellence.”

Sherwood Forest Hospitals has been also been shortlisted in the Environment Sustainability category.
