Pain Management

We are proud to offer our patients the best care, provided by a team of specialised physicians and practitioners in a modern purpose built pain management suite located within Clinic 9 at King’s Mill Hospital.  Our dedicated team also supports departments and wards at all our hospitals.

Our outpatient clinics are centred around people who live with persistent non-malignant pain, which is often also referred to as chronic pain. We favour a multi-modal approach to pain management, which may involve a variety of interventions. This method is delivered via a specialised multi-disciplinary team led by consultant anaesthetists with specialist expertise in chronic pain management.  They are supported by clinical nurse specialists and clinical psychologists. Our services include consultant consultations, diagnostic interventions, medication advice and reviews, acupuncture for low back pain, injectable therapies, and TENS clinics.

The pain management programmes and clinical psychology interventions we provide are some of our most welcomed management strategies and have excellent patient satisfaction results. As a team focused on quality patient care, we work in close partnership with our colleagues in the specialised back pain unit, also located within Clinic 9 at King’s Mill Hospital.

Our services are developed using evidence-based research, and our team is committed towards maintaining continuous professional development. This enables us to offer our patients the most up-to-date and knowledgeable range of care programmes.

Referrals

Inpatient referrals can be made by healthcare professionals directly to the pain nurse specialists, sometimes at the request of the patient.

Outpatient referrals for non-malignant persistent pain can be made by a consultant physician or by your family doctor.
