Cellular Pathology

The Department of Cellular Pathology provides comprehensive histopathology, non-gynae cytology, andrology and mortuary services for the Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust and for the North Nottinghamshire Health Community.

The Mortuary at King’s Mill Hospital is a well-equipped unit and provides a comprehensive body store and viewing service to the Trust. There is no Post Mortem Service on-site.

The department is accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).

The laboratory also complies with HTA Standards.

Department Opening Hours

The Histopathology Department is open from 08:30 am to 17:00 pm Monday to Friday.

There is no out of hours service for Histopathology.

The Mortuary is open from 09:00 am to 17:00 pm Monday to Friday.

Mortuary 24 hour on call service available for viewings and external admissions via switchboard.
